His Excellency Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi

Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi is a member of the Ruling Family of the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. As a former member of the Executive Council of the Government of Sharjah he led the Economic Committee for five years. His business interests include investments, real estate, property development, trading, construction, insurance, finance, transportation, contracting, services, and hospitality.

Sheikh Tariq is an active investor in capital markets, holding a diversified portfolio of investments in local and GCC equity markets, as well as emerging and developed markets, with additional investments in private equity funds, hedge funds, Global REITs and commodity funds.

As Chairman of Emirates Investments Group, Sheikh Tariq oversees a diversified investment operation with major interests in various sectors. In that capacity, he is also the Chairman of the following companies: ENSHAA, a leading developer of premium-quality commercial, residential and hospitality projects in the UAE, Pakistan and Australia with interests in Palazzo Versace Gold Coast and Dubai; Empire Aviation Group, a general business aviation company involved in sales, charter and management of executive aircraft; Emirates Tarian Capital, a Singapore-based investment firm focused on financial services and real estate, including real estate management and luxury property development; and Emirates Global Islamic Bank Ltd, a Pakistan-based Islamic bank with a network of over 25 branches across the country.

Sheikh Tariq is also the Chairman of Arzaq Holdings, a private equity and venture capital firm founded by a select group of high profile companies and elite businessmen such as the Kanoo Group, Zabeel Investments, United Holding, Sauod Limited, GIBCA, and Musahemat. He is also the Chairman of Faya Investments, a firm that focuses on developing projects for lease and rental, with the aim of becoming a regional leader in real estate development, complemented by vertically and horizontally integrated subsidiaries. Faya’s current developments include residential projects, warehousing, office buildings hotel and hotel apartments.

Before focusing on his private business interests, Sheikh Tariq was heavily involved in the development of Sharjah, beginning in 1999 with his appointment as Chairman for the General Authority of Sharjah Free Zones. He has also held important posts as Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) and the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), and has chaired government institutions responsible for Awqaf, sports and charity.

Academic qualifications:

Master’s degree in International Finance, Westminster University, UK. He graduated from the Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE, Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE.

Executive Management Certificate, Harvard University.

Sheikh Tariq has received additional training and certification from the London Business School, Stanford University and the University of Cambridge.
